Because the plug lives in a wall outlet, the casing must be rugged enough to resist heat and include vents for cooling. Many plugs include a manual button so even if the network is down, you can still toggle power the traditional way.
Keep the plug free of dust and install it in outlets with proper grounding. Update the firmware when prompted to ensure security patches stay current, and avoid overloading it with appliances that pull more current than the rating.
